Sorry – I made a mistake about the increase in the early penalty. After reviewing the official department of finance website with regard to this issue, the rate will increase to .7% per month not .6% as earlier stated.
Once again I apologize for my error. Please excuse me while I go shoot myself. Oooops, sorry again, I did not register my gun so I have nothing to shoot with. Ah, perhaps a noose………

1. Penalty for early CPP benefits will rise from .5% to .6% per month. (30% to 36%). This is annoying but I could possibly accept the grab.

2. “… individuals under 65 who elect to receive CPP and continue working (regardless of how little) will be REQUIRED to make CPP contributions. At this point in time – $3500 per year. (the self employed gets to pay the whole thing) Who knows what the new dollar value will be by 2012. Plus you will get taxed on the full amount. (taxes, unfortunately, we can’t avoid).

3. It appears to me that it now will be a stupid move to collect early CPP since the final net is not all that big (a hundred bucks doesn’t go far).

As a side bar to the CPP changes, HST AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Yes, Friday night Pizza. We make our own, we buy it from one of the Pizza takeout places when we want a change or we’re bored with making our own.

The takeout places we go use in order of preference:

Toms House of Pizza – an ancient Calgary Pizza House, Thin crust.
Panagopolis – when its warm outside. If it’s cold it’s too far for pickup
Dominos – closer and it stays warm enough for pickup
Pizza 73 – our desperation choice because it’s the closest, but not particularly a good pizza.
