Aruba – Panama Cruise 2007
The pictures we took in Aruba during our Panama cruise are now in the Photo Gallery on the Lookylou.com website.
After we left Fort Lauderdale it took us 2 days to get to Aruba, a Dutch island colony off the coast of Venezuela. We spent the good part of a day there shopping in the port and then we went on a marine excursion which took us to a reef a few hundred yards from the beaches on the north coast of the island near port town of Oranjestad. There we boarded a boat which looked very much like a submarine. It had big glass windows down below the water line so you could view the reef and fish swimming around. The vessel did not actually submerge, it just happened to look like a submarine.
After a day in Oranjestad the ship departed and headed for the east entrance of the Panama canal which took about 12 hours sailing time at full speed.
