We went for a bit of a holiday around Anacortes down in Washington State a few weeks ago. We spent a couple of days at the Fidalgo Bay RV Resort before meeting up with Alan and Cory at the Pioneer Trails RV Park, about 2 miles away. Fidalgo was right on the water at Fidalgo Bay, Pioneer Trails was at the top of a hill on the way to Deception Pass. Both places are located on Fidalgo Island which are part of the San Juan islands.
We had an excellent site at Fidalgo Bay, we were parked right on the water’s edge which made Sue very happy. She relates being parked on the waterfront akin to being on a boat and look past the bow. We spent 3 nights at Fidalgo before joining Al and Cory up at Pioneer Trails.
Pioneer Trails was actually the nicer of the two parks we stayed in, despite the view on the water. We plan on spending more time at both places next year, the majority however will be at Pioneer Trails.
There are some nice spots to visit in the area. Deception Pass State Park and La Conner, a quaint little town between Burlington and Anacortes.
We played a little golf at a golf course next to the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station outside of Oak Harbour. A little distracting with all the navy jets and prop driven aircraft doing touch and go take off and landings at the airstrip.
Here are some photo’s from our trip. When you hover over a small picture you will see two icons. One is a magnifying glass and if you click on it a large picture will appear. If you click on the other icon (a square with an arrow) you will go to a post with the picture and a text explanation, or some cute quip, in case you want to learn something more about the photograph.
