Start of the May Long Weekend
Friday Morning, May 18th and it’s the start of the May Long Weekend Holiday. I’ve been riding my bike off and on for the last few weeks, trying to provide some “therapy” to my knees. A doctor, or physiotherapist (can’t remember which) suggested exercise such as swimming or riding a bike might help my knee problems. I thought about swimming but visions of a great white whale (Moby Dick) come to mind and the thought of being harpooned in a public swimming pool is...

I forced myself to delay breakfast this morning so I could get out and take a few photographs of The Vancouver Sun Run, a 10k running event which is the second largest timed event of this kind in the world! At one time, back in the early history of Vancouver it was probably a creek but a lot of land got developed in that area – filled in, dredged and so forth. The...

One of the places you see when you get down to La Conner’s main street is this neat little antique store called Nasty Jacks. We went inside to see what they had and it’s typical of a lot of stores carrying this kind of stuff. What I found interesting was a selection of Old Time Magazines going back to the early 30′s and 40′s. If you’re luck you might find an issue published during the month you were born. They also had calendars with the same theme and quite a few...
